Comprehensive Plan

Idaho Code, Section 67-6508, requires cities and counties to prepare, implement, review and update “comprehensive plans” for their jurisdictions. Comprehensive plans consider previous and existing conditions, trends, desirable goals and objectives, or desirable future situations for 15 land use planning components and one optional component. Bonner County adopted its first Comprehensive Plan in 1978. Since that time, the county has adopted a number of amendments, including a Property Rights component in 2001 and a major update to the plan, which concluded in 2005. As new information becomes available or changes in trends or conditions are observed, the county will continue to update this “living document.”
