Marriage Licenses

Marriage License Information For Bonner County


 Marriage Licenses may be obtained in the Bonner County Recorder's Office 
 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

The Marriage License fee is $28.00 cash, check, or credit card. A service fee of $1.84 is charged for a debit/credit card payment.

You can obtain an Idaho Marriage License in any county in the state of Idaho, to be used only in the state of Idaho. 

You must be unmarried at the time of application.

There is no waiting period in the State of Idaho. 

Information and documents required: 

18 Years of Age & Older

Both the Bride and Groom must appear and present to the clerk:

  • Photo Identification: A valid (not expired) Driver's License, Passport, State Identification Card or Military ID.
  • Social security card: If you have not been issued a social security number you must present a letter from Social Security Administration stating that you have not been issued a number and you must also present your certified birth certificate.
  • Proof of age:  Government issued identification or a certified birth certificate.

17 or 16 Years of Age

Both the Bride and Groom must appear and present to the clerk:

  • Photo Identification: A valid (not expired) Driver's License, Passport, State Identification Card or Military ID.
  • Social security card: If you have not been issued a social security number you must present a letter from Social Security Administration stating that you have not been issued a number and you must also present your certified birth certificate
  • A parent must be present to sign a consent form for the under age person or persons. The parent must also provide identification.
  • Proof of age:  Government issued identification or a certified birth certificate.

Younger Than 16 Years of Age

Both the Bride and Groom must appear and present to the clerk:

  • You must obtain a court order from a magistrate judge authorizing you to be married.
  • Photo Identification: A valid (not expired) Driver's License, Passport, State Identification Card or Military ID.
  • Social security card: If you have not been issued a social security number you must present a letter from Social Security Administration stating that you have not been issued a number and you must also present your certified birth certificate.
  • A parent must be present to sign a consent form for the under age person or persons. The parent must also provide identification.
  • Proof of age:  Government issued identification or a certified birth certificate.

Wedding Ceremony

A Judge, Mayor, or Minister can perform the wedding ceremony.  You need to contact these people early to ensure that you will be placed on their calendar.
