Selkirk Cooperative Weed Management Area
Background: Â Cooperative Weed Management Area's (CWMA's) are distinguishable hydrologic, vegetative or geographic zones based upon geography, weed infestations, climatic or human-use patterns. Â The Selkirk Cooperative Weed Management Area (Selkirk CWMA) is the geographic area encompassing Bonner & Boundary Counties. Â Landowners and land managers within the Selkirk CWMA have come together to work collaboratively on noxious weed management projects by pooling resources and expertise. Â Since noxious weeds do not follow property ownership boundaries, the most effective control is to cross jurisdictional boundaries cooperatively. Â Each of the parties have access to state financial resources, as well as the sharing of equipment and personnel within the Selkirk CWMA. Â CWMA activities are authorized by an Advisory Board, and managed by a Steering Committee. Â The Steering Committee meets 2-3 times per year, and meetings are open to the public.
