SALES VERIFICATION FORM

SALES VERIFICATION FORM

Dear Property Owner:
Each year our office gathers information regarding transfers of property on recent home/lot sales. We
do this to better understand the market, so that we can more accurately estimate property value. The
more information we gather on individual transfers, the more accurate everyone’s assessment will be.
The detail of each transaction needs to be verified through the buyer and/or seller. A sales verification
questionnaire is included on the back of this letter. This information is not mandatory or required by
law but will help us achieve equity, fairness, and accuracy in all our assessments.
We have included a new homeowner's exemption application, if this is your primary residence, this must
be completed each time you move to qualify. If the previous owner had a homeowner’s exemption on
this property it will be removed if you do not apply for one in your name. Certain proof may be required
for this exemption, and you may have to bring that into our office along with the application. We check
all homeowner's exemption applications with the State Tax Commission to verify residency, we will
contact you if we need further documentation. For people new to Idaho or people who are not required
to file Idaho tax returns, we will work with you to obtain other proof of residency.
Following each transfer, all exemptions must be reapplied for, including timber and agriculture
exemptions, these do not transfer to new owners or family members. Please note, forest/agriculture
land exemptions are an agreement between the property owner and the State of Idaho and may
require diligence on your part to maintain them. It is the responsibility of the person(s) who receives
the exemption(s) to ensure they are in compliance. Again, if you acquire property currently receiving an
exemption and you plan to use the parcel for timber or agriculture land use, you must apply for the
exemption(s) in your name.
The Assessor's Office is prepared to assist you with application forms and any related questions you
may have, please contact our office at 208-265-1440
Sincerely,
Dennis Engelhardt, Bonner County Assessor
