Selkirk Cooperative Weed Management Area

Background:  Cooperative Weed Management Area's (CWMA's) are distinguishable hydrologic, vegetative or geographic zones based upon geography, weed infestations, climatic or human-use patterns.  The Selkirk Cooperative Weed Management Area (Selkirk CWMA) is the geographic area encompassing Bonner & Boundary Counties.  Landowners and land managers within the Selkirk CWMA have come together to work collaboratively on noxious weed management projects by pooling resources and expertise.  Since noxious weeds do not follow property ownership boundaries, the most effective control is to cross jurisdictional boundaries cooperatively.  Each of the parties have access to state financial resources, as well as the sharing of equipment and personnel within the Selkirk CWMA.  CWMA activities are authorized by an Advisory Board, and managed by a Steering Committee.  The Steering Committee meets 3 times per year, and meetings are open to the public.
